I'm ten  years old

You promised me forever

It's a dream that you sold

As soon as you wanted

To have it YOUR way

You forgot about me and mom

While you played and you strayed

You played all the people

Telling them lies

You screamed and you hollered

Putting on your 'poor me' disguise

You got out your weapons

Tore apart our family

Because you wanted YOUR way

So you sowed your own seed

You made many excuses

You said you had to work

My brothers couldn't admire you

A reality for them just bizerk

Daddy you didn't do right

When God gave you a chance

You didn't work as a team

Or even THINK of HIS plans

You screamed and you threatened

You broke doors and much more

Yet the real damage is in

The child's soul that YOU tore

YOU did this Daddy

All by yourself

You CHOSE to be selfish

Thought of nobody else

You were my role model

The one who should make me feel safe

YOU were mentally abusive

I'm now left here all chafed

My tears couldn't change you

Or all of mom's prayers

My love couldn't save you

As you lied in your lair

You're no victim dear father

Yet you want sympathy

YOU'RE ONE MORE ABUSER

Who didn't think of ME

You took up space

In a church pew

Yet if only they KNEW

Your daily actions ensued

As you lied every day

You complained and screamed

As you tore apart children

Breaking apart dreams

You're not pretty at all Daddy

Not on the inside

The real you is a liar

Something you're hoping to hide

I needed a role model

Someone I could trust and adore

So what's it going to be Daddy

Will you just lie some more

Can you recognize MY needs

As you do all YOU want

Can you even see the truth

Or even give it a shot

You have a choice

To continue on being blind

Or to think about me

Choosing differently this time

Raising a child

Isn't all about you

Keeping commitments
