sometimes it seems as if
i can read your thoughts
feel your deep emotions
decipher subtle messages
encoded between your lines

it is those times that move

the cadence of my heart
to beat in time with yours
and the depths of my soul
to concede i’ve known you
somewhere, place, in time

it is that secret familiarity

that causes my lips to hunger
for only one taste of yours
and my body aches to feel you
your sweet substance wrapped
within the circle of my arms

where forgotten places and times

recede into insignificant mists
and only the touch and taste
of one who was never forgotten
finds the passageway from there
to here, where she still belongs
