I am a teenager, morose, angry as hell;
I do not even know why, but I like to yell.
It does give me great pleasure adults to offend,
I yell, scream, strum a guitar, or simply pretend.
I let my hair grow long - lice also have to live –
Ask me how I am and stiff finger sign I give,
I let my arse hang out from inside of my jean,
I just cannot help it; it must be in my gene.
I wear a baseball cap; of course it’s back to front.
There is no limit to whom I like to affront.
The lace of my trainers fly all over the place,
My entire appearance is absolute disgrace.
I smoke, I drink, I swear, I like cannabis too,
My tongue and nose are pierced; I have a large tattoo,
I like to misbehave in public, true to form,
I want to be different; I hate to conform.
I like to show off with my manners aberrant,
Like all my buddies, I want to be different.
I am bloody rebellious above all else…
I want to be different!… like everyone else…

It’s OK… I am just going through my seventh puberty!…. so I do understand the angst…
Only when I went through my first puberty - the word teenager did not exist then – we still had to show some respect to our elders, to society in general and even to ourselves. And NO! life wasn’t any easier or simpler in those days either… It has never been easy to be a youngster…
And yes! I do care! Three of my four grandsons are teenagers… I love them all and I’d love them to be different in a truly DIFFERENT way!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in america, karen lynn in texas. :D
one way to relieve all that teenaged angst: go to a fair and get yourself on some of those hair raising rides! LOL it'll work every time (if the rides don't kill ya first! LOL)
wouldn't it be awfully boring if we were all the same? go ahead, be different--i'll love you anyway :)
wonderful angst poem--enjoyed--smiles on my face from the humor in this one--thank you, dear (((friend)))
(((HUGS))) and love, karla. :)
