E=MC2

For literary purpose and effect please read and pronounce the equation E=MC2   as ‘E equals Em Ce square.’

God winked… He thought it was ultimate truth,

He was typical scientific sleuth…

E=MC2 *

He jotted it down and happily smiled,

And by his charm the whole world got beguiled;

He was beyond compare…

I’ll not deny he was a genius

And the equation was ingenious

E=MC2

He did get and deserved the Nobel Prize,

But E=MC2 clarifies

Nothing. Gets you nowhere…

It proves that everything is relative,

Scientific thinking is inductive;

One has to be aware

Nothing is permanent, no laws are fixed,

Even the best thought out rules can be nixed…

E=MC2?…

The Universe works without man made rules,

Horses are more graceful than are the mules,

A road from here leads… there…

In a “dream world” all things are possible,

Laws only in courts are admissible…

E=MC2 ?…

Laws exist on paper and in the mind.

Most of us humans are driven by blind

Faith. We’re driven by hot air…

We believe in “religion” and “science” **

Two of the most destructive alliance…

E=MC2 ?…

Where did it lead us to? Hydrogen bomb;

Heralded in with “drum roll and aplomb”.

E=MC2  …

We are at cross roads… the choice is there…

Stay put? Move forward? Backward? Or beware

That all roads lead to… Where!?…

Footnotes:

                   * For literary purpose read E=MC2  as E equals Em Ce square.

                 ** Under “religion” and “science” include politics.

It is not my “calling” in the “greater order of the Universe” to offer solutions. All I am able to do is to raise questions and urge caution.

This composition is worth Your PEN, Poet!

I have learned how to understand the "I = ME = Eternity" through the lines of this magnificent creation of Yours.

Thank You for showing me how The Major Art stands, and how to comply with Poetry's tasks.

A very interesting poem, Peter! Well done! "They" say that Einstein tried in vain to stop the government from making those bombs, and afterwards, he personally destroyed a room full of his notes so that no one would be able to use them to make more weapons of destruction. I've often pondered the fact, that when man creates a new product, why is it that more often that not, his ultimate usage of it, leans toward the destructive side? Scientists and mystics alike, are still searching for the missing key to the secret that will allow them change energy into matter. When they succeed, the world super powers with all the money, will dictate what and where its usage will be. I say: May God help us when they do!

Peter, It has always ben a common theme of good Vs evil in all things great and small. Mankind's reaction to life itself always paints two distinct pictures to every nuance. I have spent the last 2 years researching Albert Einstein for my book due out by Christmas and this poem has so much meaning and really rings true in many ways. Great write!!!!

Peter,

Amid the humor in your lines, you speak with powerful truths; insightful; wise; very well penned!

(((HUGS))) and love and many prayers, Karla.

Love the last stanza particularly...reminds me of men (well, most men) and their not asking for directions...WHERE???? LOL). Thanks for the needed smile. :)

Our efforts to control matter and its chaotic energy have and will backfire. We seem to lack vision because of our determination to reach "the goal". But what of the reality after achievement and the variables we can't possibly know of or control? Food for thought. Well said, Peter!
