Mirrors never cheat; mirrors never lie,
The evidence is there, painful to see,
Like a witness in court, would testify
That time is marching on relentlessly.
Dark gloom reflects from deep set misty eyes,
Furrows on forehead, like the ploughed meadows
Stretching under the pregnant, shrouded skies
And enveloped in menacing shadows.
Life passed me by, long gone the youthful spring;
Winter’s coming soon to collect the debt…
The mirror never lies… time’s advancing…
I look at a weary old face and yet,
Underneath the pale and wrinkly old skin,
I see the child still, who lives on within.

I am young and I see my self old just as my mother did, she looks so much older than she is.. oh the things life does to us
but inside, deep down, I too see that little spirited child, though it saddens me, I can not ever truly be her again though I so desperately try to hold onto the little bit of innocence I have left and the little bit of hope that remains and all the dreams I once had are slowly but surely surfacing again reminding me everyday that there still is reason to go on, to believe, to hope, to care, to love, etc
this was an excellent poem
thanks for sharing, for reflecting

"The Mirror Never Lies..." sings the motion of time... It lets the mirror show the outside, but the boy inside is a gift from time, when wisdom got to its puberty in the spiritual mind.
An enriching moment to read a beautiful profound poem written in Major Art to enrich the English Fine Letters.
"The Mirror Never Lies… will stand the millennia as a glowing page in the history of Poetry.
