"Bitterly I search for the right words Writing this poem under the silver lamp." (Yu Xuanzhi. Tang Dynasty) The sun sinks behind hills, veiled in purple mist, The river's surface into pink glimmer kissed, The waters brightly shimmer� On the pinkish waves gently bobs a sampan, Over the rooftops softy croons the sandman� �Over the Yangtze River� � P. J. Oszmann (October 2006, composed on a boat on the Yangtze.) � Illustration: Sunset on the Yangtze (Three Gorges). Digital photo, enhanced in Photoshop (October 2006) Footnote: The mist over the Yangtze indeed appears to have a purple hue at sunset.
