She was sixteen… and her birthday present

Was a shiny, brand new, black piano.

Her surprise was great and very pleasant,

But she couldn't play scales or an arpeggio,

So there was a need for a teacher too…

He was young, handsome, only twenty-six,

Full of confidence, know-how and how-to

But her arpeggios he couldn't really fix…

They practiced scales up, down, up, down, up, down,

They were both keen… so on and on it went…

Then one day they stopped… it was at sundown…

A moment of hot passion's discontent…

They crashed on the piano… G-string torn…

And nine months later a "New Song" was born…
