Like mist over lakes a forlorn sigh lifts…
When I am alone, in deep reverie,
Your graceful nymph like image gently drifts
On the fairy-lake of my memory.
Once again I see you, beautiful, young,
Just like long ago on a summer's eve,
When low on the horizon the moon hung.
It's so real; I am ready to believe
It's not a mirage; you're here in the flesh,
Crowned as the queen of all the fairy-maids,
Living, youthful, blooming, healthy and fresh…
Then, as I reach out, your image fades…
And as from my reverie I awake,
Hot tears stream into the cool fairy-lake…

Footnote:
Within the next couple of days it would have been our 53rd wedding anniversary.
This will be the first one I “celebrate” alone…
The depth of your love colors these words of rememberance - well done.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
