Once upon a time…
and they lived happy ever after…

Poem Artwork

Once upon a time… all fairy tales start thus…

A girl and a boy met on a city bus.

They got off together; went into a bar,

Got high on beer and coke, straight out of a jar.

Later that evening they crawled into a bed,

Where infatuation into sex it led.

After the act, as the boy zipped up his fly,

Asked for the girl's name. She laughingly said: "Why?"

"'Cause I had a good time; didn't you?" - he said.

"Maybe." - said she; so again they went to bed.

Three kids later they finally tied the knot.

They ought to have been happy; but they were not.

So the girl gave back her white wedding garter;

Divorced… and they lived happy ever after…

This is excellent. Your poem is a perfect anti-fairy tale. If only it wasn't true...

The honesty reaks with truth... and would make a wonderful lesson to be taught to some punky high-schoolers or freshman in University!

True story for many. Well done. Cynicism makes good poetry.
