Based on a painting of the same name by Brad Durham- please check out his work at the address below, it is amazing.

Poem Artwork

A patch of woolen blue spread across the ground

behind me, you brush back the length of my hair

in this space of sullen skies I greet what I’ve found-

a warmth like June when the summers are fair

Milky white with strands gone for your view

brush of bristled beard awakening new places

your breath whisper tickles and makes all anew

my hive and my home and my delicate spaces

Skirting the curve of chin, this mouth of a poet

he almost steals the words as they trail out

connecting in strings of phrases to soar with

to speak and to moan when we fall and we shout

But close then, as if we’re some siamese twins

width of this aching to suspend before reaching

suffer this inching of lips upon lips deep within

into the silence of the nature we’re breaching

Wet remnants of time left upon leaves that we track

bowing low to the gold of the sky that we’ve known

oh, love how we’ve become the beast with two backs

and discovered the cracks in the lives we once owned

This is very well written. It is erotic without becoming overtly so. Great use of imagery and metaphor. Love it! ~ Sara
