Poem Artwork

She knew it might as well have been her up there,

Crucified and pressed into by the depths of his push,

Pulled up and down at the gentle twist of his slow movements,

By the blind devotion he weaves with hands deft and wide.

He took it in with knowing eyes and endless vines in ruddy glass,

Milky mozzarella, sopressatta and white chunks of warm bread,

Each offered morsel bitten deep and then swallowed quick,

Each gulp an unknown step taken toward sensuality’s gain.

And that pull is undeniable in even the most pressing crowds,

When a dark-eyed stare can be felt forever on your heated skin,

When one lover is sure the other lover is not looking back,

Battles of unbidden desires staged and fought on passion’s edge.

Bad angels gather round him flapping their glittered wings,

Prickling at the mere thought of their inner chemistries,

Wrestling with facts in face of bittersweet realities,

Uncorked and poured out for all the world to see.

Michelle, the aromatics of love, the gulping nature of love pressed with physical desire. It's a rush my dear friend. You presented the atmosphere with lush verbiage and the observant eye of a tender heart. "And that pull is undeniable in even the most pressing crowds". May peace and love be with you always. The link provides a better opportunity to see all the details and feel the "atmosphere" of the painting. It is surprising to discover here how much you could "see" and "feel". The last stanza sums it up very well.

Alive with imagery, forbidden love, and passion encapsulated in a wine sauce of black licorice and dark spice.

You work words like a lion/ess tame, Michelle. I mean that in the best of possibilities. Love and best wishes,

Prickling at the mere thought of their inner chemistries,

Wrestling with facts in face of bittersweet realities,

revealing lines, humans may not be so good after all, but they are also rather helpless. saludos

It's good to have you back, Michelle, and back with style.
I love each and every verse but the third, for me, is simply outstanding.
Don't stay away so long next time, please.
