Inspired by a painting of the same name by a favorite artist of mine, Eyvind Earle. I don't know how anyone could NOT be inspired by his art, and, he's a poet, too :) Here's a link to his work:

Poem Artwork

Left there yet in the corner where cobwebs clung,

to the stained glass lamp you bought for a fifty,

from that crowded shop that sells useless trinkets,

dusty paintings of rounded trees and emerald green,

to teach the visiting rats in the city’s daily race,

what a herd of horses looks like

on a deserted distant plain.

But after that first short visit she’s moving out there,

because the sunlight on the mountains blinked yellow,

because the morning mist came in like waves of air,

and even the barest of the trees remained intent,

on reaching farther out for the earth’s own betterment.

Moved out, yes,

out past where the flash of neon ends,

over and through the tunnels and pillars of steel,

past the immovable place inside you where the spider spins,

a clinging web in all the corners of a city dweller’s soul.

A fantastic philosophical view of a starkly beautiful work of art.

Michelle, human nature always insists that wherever we are, a vastly different environ is the utopia we seek. It is only when we realize utopia is always alive in our own psychic that we change our perspective and reassert our efforts to look no further for the ultimate satisfaction. Great Poem my dear friend. I bid you love and peace. Jon Michael

'to teach the visiting rats in the city’s daily race' ouch! A bit hard on us city slickers.

Well illustrated... I like how we as writers get inspired by others work and in turn create the same in our words... I guess like a quote from Leonardo Di Vinci... Painters paint to describe, we as writers paint with words... something to that extent... Thanks for sharing both...
