"...Many things catches your eyes, appreciate them. But few things catches your heart, pursue them..."

Viju Chakavarthy

Poem Artwork

Disturbed and moved by this reputation
The audience none too pulled into this reality
Captain Phil Harris stood, over storm and crushing seas
Joined in the watery hunt so deadly

So dangerous this short boat life

Far from land the pursuit
Relied upon his strength and fortitude
Men, matchless against nature's fury and pride
  Though home to the Captain

He, who commanded Men and Traps down to the Deep
He, beside the Sea and sunset behind him
In storm, a detached cool the Captain led
This last journey of wetted wake of foam

Through Icy storms, comings and goings
  Over the sea'd mountains
Drifting, swirling currents
Below the surface so calm, no storm

Awaits the catch, the prize

Screams in the Night on wooden deck
They yelled hope and came away with nothing
Years added in the waning moments
Only a passion for the catch

No rest, no fuss, the sea knows

This part of the world burning blue
Yet Calm and risen, their lives full
But the Captain waits
Visible to his vision, calmly calculated

In the long journey of his ship's wake
  The Captain clutches the Wheel
No tyranny pre-supposed
No storm's rage is past, fables turned truth

For the Captain, the sea and its catch is Today

A watery battlespace of lingo and strength
In the bath of their toil
The Captain, may He rest forever
In the sea in so doing he died

We pray for his mariner spirit
He is the Captain now of the Deadliest Catch in eternity
