Being alone with God when we feel the whole world crushing in gives us the access to receive the inner peace that only comes from Him.

My hopes like shipwrecked paper boats
Are crushed upon the streams of life.

With nothing to hang on to keep afloat,
Prayer is my anchor through the strife.


Weeping I fall prostrate at Your feet,
"I love You, O Lord, my Strength."

Your Divine comfort and grace so sweet,
Engulfs my soul in infinite length.

Your inner peace surrounds me like walls
And You, O God, are my glory within.

The broken, You love- and those who fall,
The contrite of heart, You redeem from sin.

Nothing on earth can ever give me this,
Unconditional love and Your inner peace.

AMEN! ONE HASN'T BEEN COMFORTED OR KEPT OR HAD THEIR TEARS TENDERLY WIPED...UNTIL JESUS BECOMES OUR COMFORTER, OUR KEEPER AND THE WIPER OF OUR TEARS. IT IS ALMOST WORTH THE PAIN TO FEEL HIS PRESENCE SO DIVINELY. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND PEACE...

Cynthia, I just love this poem because it is so true. You've communicated something all humans need to know- that God is a very present help in a time of trouble! Also, that nothing can properly substitute for His strength. I like the comparisons you make--they make a spiritual and abstract idea very tangible and concrete.
I sense in this poem that you really know the Saviour.

This reflection and prayer reveal a heart that belongs to God.
In your prayer, you fulfill the Scripture admonition to praise Him and thank Him in good times or bad.
James wrote, "Consider it pure joy...whenever you face trials of many kinds...you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." In Him is peace, comfort, grace and the assurance that He will make ALL things work for good for those who love Him.
