As we travel life's journey we need to get rid of our unnecessary baggage such as bitterness, anger, regrets, and other "heavy" stuff.
"Forgetting what lies behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:13-14)
The past is over and cannot be undone
And so to move forward I have to let go.
Thoughts of tomorrow always hinder one,
The worries and the fears only make me slow.
Today is a time that I still can mold,
Today is a good start to take a good look.
Change is still there for me to hold,
My lessons of today are tomorrow's
books.
Focus on goals for time can't be lost,
Can't just rock the boat -need to sink it too.
For change to happen, there is always a cost
I must rid of the old to create something new.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come." (2 Corinthians 5:7)
Economists say that the only constant in the world is change (figure that one out). Your poem shows that change can be difficult, but because we know it's going to happen we can't avoid it! Best to accept the inevitable?
Dear Cynthia, you've written a simple yet beautiful piece of poetry which captured the reality of constant change. You're right, the past is our teacher to strengthen us for today and prepare us for tommorow. Peace and love in Christ.
Well said! There is never a moving ahead if we don't first let go of what's holding us back. Philippians 3:13-14 is one of my favorite verses.

Cynthia, It has been said in churches all over America that prayer changes things. But I say prayer changes us and we change the world! I am a Navy veteran an had many occasion to visit your beautiful country and white beaches. This is a very good write a requires some soul searching! Thank you.
Cynthia we can not undo the past, but we can look to the Lord, so we dont make some of the mistakes we made in the past. A great write, and a great reminder...
