Piercing light
stretches
swallows up stars
sucks sweet marrow
of darkness
and exposes me
to dangers
of the day.

Was it only a dream?
No –all too real how
your brightness
broke through
ushered me
into wondrous land
my eyes were not
ready to see.

You wielded
sword of possibility
unaware
of safe cover
you pulled from me
wanting more
joy more love more
dazzling hope.

Sudden shock
so devastatingly
beautiful
hurled me
through deep purple skies
toward orange hope
too far
too fast.

When you withdrew
undaunted optimism
disappointed
by my slow progress.
I became
as a meteor
speeding recklessly
toward unintended doom.

Blasting out-of-control
through atmospheric
nothingness
forever down
where fallen angels
and burned-up rocks
have no need of
night or day.

Heavy velvet sky
presses down upon
forgotten piece of earth
Oblivious
I mourn
perpetual failure
and absence of you
champion of my cause.
