rearrange; yet this deep affection remains,
constant beauty entrenched within my heart.

Now I stand steady on this ground – lost, but knowing

my way: You turned endless night into day;
you were my soulmate, perfect counterpart.

Has time led you to see the truth? It wasn’t

When love grows in startling places, puts
smiles on weary faces, wild fear runs in quickened paces –
people kill love not proper in their eyes.

And yet the irony is this: for each stolen

ensures that I will never compromise.

simple right and wrong. You’ve been so faraway so long,
and I’m sorry for careless words I hurled.

Now I’ve got Orion overhead, and every word
you ever said turning cartwheels through my head:
these are the only sure things in my world.

Both seem a million miles away. Still, shooting
stars and yesterday can shed light, lead us to a way
where all our hopes and dreams can be unfurled.
