At weddings, Christmas, and the New Year
from far away their ring sounds clear.

In vibrant sonance they jointly swing
a ‘hallelujah’ the choir sings.

Clear as glass their vibrant tone
reflected back from every stone,

amazingly these copper bells
fused their play into my cells.

They do not offer a rhapsody
but rather balance sweet melody.

For years I was deprived their chime
now I remember – and write this rhyme.

Prayers I plead in my native tongue,
the sermon I heard, and hymns I sung.

These church bells I miss - a lot, if not bad
but one thing's for sure - and I’m just glad;

for I’ve been blessed as a child of Christ
beneath those bells - I’ve gotten baptized.
