The Crucifixion (Meditation)

The final injustice to our Savior and Lord,

Being crucified like a common criminal.

They pounded the nails into Your hands and feet.

The sound of those little bones breaking –

One by one by one.

How could they do this to one so meek?

One of the men crucified with You,

Asked for forgiveness.

You said to him –

“This day you will be in paradise,

Your sins are forgiven.”

You hung on that cross for three long, long hours.

Before You died.

Then just before You died,

You cried out –

“My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?”

So often, I cry out to You,

“My God, why have You forsaken me?”

In truth, I know that You are always there.

It’s just that sometimes I can’t see You.

When I feel like I’m drowning in grief,

I know You’ll send me relief.

But, could You

Just maybe, perhaps –

Precede it with some “formal” Kathy-understood announcement?

This way when I am overwrought

I can more easily see the goodness of Your divinity

And feel less crucified with what is going on in my life.

Author's Note:  My 'cross' this year is getting much easier to carry.  Steve is back to work, part-time and light duty.  With each day there is improvement, but he still has a long, long way to go - probably a year or two.  "Thank you" for your continued prayers, concern and love.  Kathy
