Child Abuse

© By Kathy Armijo

Their eyes twinkle

Their smile brightens a dark room

Who are these children

Whose life is now filled with doom and gloom

They are wards of the court, victims of child abuse

One of many of the system’s unknowns

Their deepest scars cannot be seen

Even after the healing of the broken bones

Loving homes for these children

Are in short supply

Still, God bless those people

Who hear and comfort the children when they cry

These temporary parents help these children face unbelievable turmoil

Giving them a sense of love and security

Instilling hope and worth

As they strive to overcome this horrific journey

Child abuse

It is our responsibility to eradicate and report it

These children deserve a good life

They don’t need to live with ‘parents’ who are unfit

Well done!
Yes, I was abused as a child as were many of my friends. By today's standards the jails would be filled with parents. Now charges of parential abuseare probably too extreme, because the kids can sue the parents at the drop of a hat. Perhaps it's better this way.

always in life when someone gets hurt -- it is those incapable of defending for themselve -- little children are more often victims than anyone else -- what does that say for the adults that are supposed to be their protectors? -- JMW

This is a sad realization that in this modern culture of electronic advancement, we are still writing and speaking of an abuse that has been around since the beginning of mankind. It still amazes me that we have not stopped such abuse in this world. Why do people have babies if they cannot cope, it is such a misfortune. We must stop the cycle of abuse.
I myself was verbally abused and watched my father beat my mother on a regular basis. He didn't hit us kids, but we lived our lives in fear. that is a form of child abuse for sure.
We must raise awareness and you have done a wonderful job with writing this poem, thank you my dear friend.
Peace, love, and light,

So very true, the punishments for any crimes involving children in my opinion should be doubled and in some cases trippled for we can not do enough to protect our children in today's society.

Kathy,
Thank you for calling attention to this worldwide problem. I also write on child and domestic abuse. No child should have to go through this, some children are 'afraid' to tell, afraid of more abuse so they live day by day, hour by hour in turmoil. God bless the children and God bless the foster parents who take them in and give them the love and attention they need.

Many blessings,
~Linda

Thanks, Kathy. I've been blessed to have foster parents in churches I have served. I've watched as they extended their arms and I was happy to be able to give special acceptance to these children as well.

Amen Kathy as you speak out loud, every child that is born into this world deserves someone to love and comfort them as they continue to protect from all harm. Children should smile not cry. Thank you Kathy.

AMEN!! Give those children to parents who know how to care for them or LOVE them!! Sad so many children are livin' under the shadows, and sad to see them livin' like this! As the ad says, "It shouldn't hurt to be a child"..and it SHOULDN'T!! Childhood should be full of joy and laughter, not bruises, yelling, or tears!!

God bless our little ones, especially those who are being abused!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :( >tears! <

You are so right Kathy! The problem is thiose who can make a difference, don't know how to change the system. We need more people to talk about it as your poem does, and give transparency to the problem...Thanks for sharing...

Amen to that! This is a message all should hear. I cannot imagine being able to hurt a child or animal, and it sickens me the things that go on against both. Thanks for drawing attention to child abuse.

Concur with Jerry: a policeman told me I was too cruel. Would stop it, though. :) Excellent, yet heartbreaking write, Kathy. The cycle of abuse must end NOW.

I hope each of them will find good homes and good parents. Adopted children are angels, they bring joy to the families; and most of all, they live to please!!!
