the paths did cross
to grow our souls

the other knows
the very thing we need to grow
is mysteriously translucent
and deep within despairing thoughts
weakness becomes our strength
you make me squirm
with heavenly discomfort
follow the heart and follow the cause
and what if the heart is the cause
I reach for your hand and fall anyway
those moments of beauty help me hold on
those moments of despondent I slip away
I really don't want to hit the pavement
so I gather strength becoming vapor
because the spirit doesn't splatter
but floats instead to the light
maybe a blessing maybe a curse
you see it go down with a mind of its own
after I write I go back and read it
often wondering the perception
that you wake me up inside
