Autumn comes to a close...

Poem Artwork

The last autumn leaves lay scattered on

the ground like specks of paint on an artist’s canvas.

Children shuffle through the carpet of red, yellow

and orange that now awaits them.

Trees stand tall and naked against the gray horizon,

branches reminiscent of arms outstretched in loneliness.

Autumn and all its beauty has now come to a close,

welcoming the birth of a new season.

Wintry gales and bald trees bent away from the onslaught of the wind, no refuge for a weary traveler who may pass beneath it . . . You got me to thinking . . .

Beautifully imaged, Dawn, this year's color display wasn't as vivid as last year's. Always next year. :) Well done.
