Life is the canvas which we paint upon...

Poem Artwork

At one time

His life lay out stretched before him,

Much like an artist’s blank canvas,

For the colors and brush strokes

He chose were his own.

Now,

In the late autumn of his years,

He mournfully contemplates the past -

Longing to repaint his life’s portrait.

Isn't it so that we wish to paint a few spots of our past and create them again...maybe even some wish they could paint their whole life again...

just as your poem expresses...

nice work, dawn...

enjoyed, Art Sun...

i think we all try and do that at some point in our lives, yet it is the willingness to accept change and acknowledgement of better pictures to paint is what helps us continue on.

Oh, my - this is powerfully penned wistfulness (spelling?) ... unfortunately, we only get one go 'round. Well done, Dawn, indeed.

All the pastel colors that light our path on this journey of life bring out the collective beauty in all, very inspirational.....

I am adopting this poem as my number one living aid. What is your price for my using it? This is ultra concise, full blown, abject, specific, and all those words that flood my brain. How did you know me so well? And, how kind you are! - Bill

Excellent metaphor! You captured the canvas well, how often we look back and wish we could at least add a different hue to some of our own strokes...

Brilliance. The message: Live now, don't wait for life to start, it has started. Yet at any age one must keep moving forwards and upwards, enjoy life, not the superficial, but God's life...
The past is history....
