We sat on the edge of the bed looking at each others
reflection in the mirror.
I leaned against your shoulder like a lioness
slinks in the sand on a hot summers day.
I brushed my cheek over your silky falling hair
and stared dreamily at our image in the mirror.
Our imperfect bodies looking perfect,
like we were from another century
another place in time
another place,
a time
* when we believed in our eyes,
and we didn't care what we had done in our lives,
we knew we would always be by each others side,
there was no choice, we belonged to our lives.
In the mirror our image must stay.
I long to love you,
to love you someday, and we could fly… just fly away....
'Love... is for the way you -look- at me...' Don't know why that song comes to mind with this poem.
Re-post or not, it deserves much attention!
Loved the poem... and just took me away to yes, my dreams of love.
