bleeding heart at midnight reaching to kill the light my hand withdrew as if sliced clear-clean-through skin and vessel severed forever by the moon leaking in through the open blinds. i gripped my wrist free hand tight to the wound not wanting to bleed myself too completely as i was acutely reminded of you and those same lines cutting into your chest when last we meshed.

Like a cut into the mind, Anne, or many cuts, from many thoughts; and there's a hint of pleasure there-

"not wanting to bleed
myself too completely
as i was acutely
reminded of you"

-in being able to empath the cuts, and live.
