Poem Artwork

cloak of tears

sitting outside,
on what’s left
of a tuesday,
questioniong a vacant
purple-black sky,
feeling bruised,
no stars in sight,
the limbs of trees,
shadowing the horizon,
mirroring my soul’s
need for embrace,
reaching out,
coming up empty;
i feel nothing.

without warning,
it begins to rain,
no light show,
no thunder roar,
swollen and unstable,
the sky refuses
to blink back
years of heavy tears,
finally giving out,
soaking my scalp,
wetting my cheeks,
saturating my shoulders,
in cloak and reminder;
it’s time to let go.

put down your weapon(mirror), put your hands (heart) on your head(sleeve) and cry your eyes out!

This is a wonderful write and I could relate... Sometimes it is hard to let go. Let the rain cleanse your soul and start anew.

Nice sentiment here, full of poignancy tinged with hope. Kind of reminds me of a Nancy Griffith song. Do you know her work?

It's never easy to let go. The best way to get over someone is to find someone new. Excellent poem.

This poem is so poignant and filled with such sorrow...until that very last line...when that moment of truth...and strength finally arrives. Very nice!
