awake, in wicked pain, my brain feeling as it it were bleeding and the world was nothing but broken glass, the grand tree, once shadow-maker, now postured in pain, storm-stricken, shards of branch bone littering the yard, lit by lightning and rumbled by thunder, one sharp osteo-tree limb driven through the ground like a stake, the tree in response, heaving open, suffering a giant gut wound, belly spread wide, a space, running the full length, from root floor to sky ceiling, sap glistening like honey tears, pink exposed flesh, the smell of death, burning my nose as i moved to investigate, nightgown trailing, feet on baby-step, counting my own rings, feeling the life drain out of me into the wet grass, another storm pending.

Dear Ann:
Good Stuff, great painting. Just for the hell of it try taking out half of the adjectives ie. "wicked pain" throughout the poem and see what you get. Not criticising so much as observing thru my own tastebuds. It seems overwrought, overwritten. Hardest thing in the world to do is take out a scalpel and see what happens. If you wind up with the original poem, then you've got it right.

I listened once as a tree was felled, it screamed! I used all of it afterwards to mulch my yard, and insisted the perpertrators plant three in it's place, in my yard that I didnt own. Bless the tree's and the one who made them.
This is very cool, surreal darkness, like running through a forest at night barefoot- thanks for going there and bringing it here to share some unique work.
