Poem Artwork

black and blue

my skin bears the backlash to prove,
it's a tightrope we walk between,
self-love and pure selfishness.

my brain seizes up with words,
held back, held in, held above,
what all others have to say.

my ears are plugged up
with the shoulda-woulda-couldas
by all others' estimations.

my eyes are salt-crystals,
seeing the world through the
fragmented edges of cryo-tears.

my mouth is one thin line,
upon which, i measure carefully
chosen words i never say.

my throat is thick with anger
and swallowed back rage,
the pain of which needs release.

my world would be technicolor,
without walls, no holds barred,
if i would just cry freedom.

"After my recent brush with voicelessness, I thought I'd share with you a few thoughts about speech. Don't take it lightly my friends. If music is the pathway to the heart as Voltaire suggested, then speech is the pathway to other people. Live in silence and you live alone." Henry Bromwel

this speaks volume...the pic alone
those who bore the weight will feel the sting here
and the others will hear the desperate cries
powerful!!! no-one can help you more than
that inner-voice, get-up that inner-strength
your life is more than his/her canvas
