In the Time That is Left

Under the cover of darkness,
you tell me, "I will be the last
to hold you, for many years to come."
My heart believes you play for keeps,
your hair flooding your shoulders,
my hands reaching, finding eagle down,
soft white wisps, smelling of the sky.
Comforted, I am slowly dying to live,
in this time we have created between us.
