Nothing is quite as simple and as beautiful as Mary Oliver's words. She captures the moment.

Praying It doesn't have to be the blue iris, it could be weeds in a vacant lot, or a few small stones; just pay attention, then patch a few words together and don't try to make them elaborate, this isn't a contest but a doorway into thanks, and a silence in which another voice may speak. So many people are intimated about praying...but need not be. God is not evaluating us on how good our diction is, or grammatically correct our petitions. He looks into our hearts. Excellent poem and of course, perfect Subject.
