We can change the hand we're dealt in life..

Poem Artwork

He’s a father,
a junkie;
and the junkie
trumps the father
as he chases the next bottle,
pill or reality eraser.
Blame is a game
he plays well,
spreading the cards around
and away from himself.

Anxiety is the gene card,
the get-out-of-blame
free card he passed
to his son, the one
who struggles to
understand
as best a six year old can
the confusion,
the father, the card
he was dealt.

He’s the son,
a child;
and the child will
trump the gene
as he’s plucked from
the father’s wake.
Dealt a new hand,
he will play his own game,
no editing need--
reality unplugged.

Great piece - insightful and suggestive of the sins of the father being visited upon the children.

"The Gene" depicts the reality through its lines of clear emotions
poetized the record human nature and society.

I enjoyed the reading of "The Gene", and learned from its wise
message.

A wonderful interplay of words. Points out so vividly that no matter where we start out in this life, we have choices and we can choose to become anyone or anything we want.

Great formulated verse, by one who anyone can tell really cares for the child, good luck to the lad and to you dear lady.

yes, when we deal and play at the same time, we control whatever hand we're dealt ...

insightful, perceptive and uniquely stated ...
