Poem Artwork

Beneath the ice
majestic pine limbs
grow weary.

                        One
                        less hearty
                        surrenders with a snap,
                        carrying with it
                        a crackling power line
                        to the cold groundcoffin
                        waiting.

The Earthtongues still
in the wake of a loss
from the griefgrey landscape
beyond my window.

Silence
chokes off all man-made voices,

shrouding my room
with a hush of respect
as Nature mourns.

I catch my breath
lest a whisper intrude.

The only sound
                        falling

from the other side of
                        Silence

comes from the Sky,

                        Softly
                        shedding
                        crystal
                        teardrops.

 Reviews of "The Ice Storm"
Reviewed on May 23, 2005

"The Ice Storm" strikes my mind and makes me think on life
and harmony.

This poem talks to the mind of the inner soul, and stimulates the
brains to search for solutions... It offers a reading that instucts
and inspires.

I do sense a very old Metallica influence in this one, the vibe I am getting with this is the track "Trapped Under Ice." I grew up listening to Metallica when I was younger, and I have to say this is a good write. Very creative. I take more from Iced Earth as an influence for the poetry these days.

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
