This poem is in tribute to my nephew Ted who lost his father through a violent crime. His strength was remarkable and I'm so proud of him.

WHAT A BRAVE YOUNG MAN

What a brave young man is he,

In a blink of an eye he lost his dad through death

It blackened his world so he couldn’t see.

He has hidden strengths we all wished we had.

To have him in my life I can only feel glad.

All the pain this young man has known,

He never gave up, he's only just grown.

How proud of him, his dad would be,

If he could see that strength we all can see.

Somehow I feel his dad does know,

And that he knew it was there, as he watched him grow.

The compassion and love that's in this boy,

Gives me the desire to go on and he brings such joy.

What a son my brother raised.

He can have the credit and take all the praise.

I have raised three lovely children in my home.

And I love this young man as if he were my own.

He deserves the best that life has to give.

And he'll be a part of me as long as I live.

He is obviously extra-special. That's just more good luck for you. Nice, really nice.
