We’re All Pink!
How do you tell your grandchild how hard her life would be?
In a mixed marriage when color is something she can’t see.
She doesn’t understand how the world could be so cruel.
She doesn’t understand bigotry; she knows nothing of the rule.
I must admit, I also thought that prejudice didn’t exist anymore.
Until that day I was with a black friend and walked into a store.
Don’t people realize that you know they’re glaring at you?
Don’t they care they hurt your feelings, damage some souls too?
Is this what all the minorities feel when they’re out and about?
The pain they feel would be unbearable, like a case of the gout.
The skin is only the covering for the precious things inside.
For it covers the heart of man, covers their soul and their pride.
To be judged on what you look like, should be a mortal sin.
By hurting one of God’s children, by not letting them in.
No one is better, just because he has a different color of skin.
No one should be judged on being heavy or being thin.
I know the God I pray to, wouldn’t condone these thoughts.
We came so far in this regard; it’s why wars were fought.
What made the person judging; think he’s better than the rest?
What makes him think he has a right to judge who is the best?
Prejudice is a horrible thing, especially when it takes hold.
It seems to give men power, it seems to make them bold.
Love and understanding are the answers, they could be a link.
To help people understand that skin is only skin, and underneath,
We’re all pink!
