I had no idea what category to put this in, children, inspirational, family...etc. I hope I picked the right one.

Daddy’s Little Girl

Daddy’s little girl was happy with a charming & beaming smile.
She danced and sung with her Daddy, in his arms all the while.
Running to greet him when he came home from extremely long day.
Always with her beaming smile and knowing the perfect things to say.

Oh, how much he loved this child, she was his pride and joy.
He never was like most the dads, who always wanted a boy.
He never felt more pride and joy than the day that she was born.
But on that same day he lost his wife, so his heart was badly torn.

Each day she was with him, his heart healed more and more.
He never quite believed it, how she made his spirits soar.
She had the voice of an angel, so intelligent and bright.
No matter how bad things were she always brought the light.

The principal called one day and told him she was in a school play.
He felt a little sad and wondered what her mommy would say?
Would she think he did a good job in raising her little one?
Would she be proud of his decisions and would she say well done?

This question haunted him, many times throughout the years.
While he dressed a knee or elbow, or mopping her few tears.
He took a seat close to the stage when arriving at the play.
He wanted to be closer to his little girl and feel more engaged.

He had no idea it was a musical and his little girl had the lead.
His heart was bursting at the seams; he could almost feel it bleed.
Her voice was so angelic and the entire crowd gasp in awe.
They couldn’t believe what they heard or what they all saw.

She sang “Daddy’s Little Girl,” with her hands reaching to the sky.
As if she was talking to someone, who lived with Thee on High.
She poured her little heart out trying to convince someone she’s fine.
And asking for her Daddy’s blessings, in every single line.

Hi Bonnie, you can put this poem in all the categories that you have mentioned.Don't worry if you put it in the right category because either way,any of your poems will always be a great read for someone :-) no matter what genre you set them in.I love reading your poems, always have and always will.I like this poem a lot because it shows the close bond between father and daughter. Its always important for a parent to have a close relationship with their children and spend as much time with them as possible. If I ever have children,I will be there for them 1,000% and do things with them.I enjoy reading this poem, take care

Fathers and daughters. Isn't it such a special opportunity? When it works right there is hardly any relation or friendship that is better. Good one.
