This is for a dear friend who had the pain of a loss of his beloved child. A pain that never seems to go away. God bless you my friend and I hope you find peace in this poem.

Don’t Cry for Me Daddy!

A father who had lost his only child he loved beyond all measure.
Couldn’t bear to go in her room and see all his daughter’s treasures.
His little girl named Sandy had passed away after being really ill.
She had a rare disease with no cure, not in treatment nor in pills.

It’s only been two months now since Sandy left this life.
And it caused her daddy great sadness and painful strife.
He could barely think of her without such intense pain.
So he kept quiet enduring the loss over and over again.

One night Sandy’s daddy had a dream that seemed so real.
He saw little Sandy crying and holding an unlit candle of teal.
“Sandy my darling, why are you crying, aren’t you happy here?”
“Oh Daddy yes, I am so happy,” she said, as she shed another tear.

“Then why my darling daughter are you crying, you look so sad to me.”
“Daddy all the children’s candles light their way, its how it should be.”
“Every time I light my candle, your tears there on earth put out the flame.”
“So I am always alone and in total darkness, and your tears are to blame.”

“Please don’t cry for me my Daddy, for I love it here so much.”
“I really do miss you though Daddy, I miss your loving touch.”
“But the angels come to hold me and comfort me each night.”
“They take away my tears, and my candle they relight.”

“But then you cry those tears, it goes out and I can’t find my way.”
“To where the other children are where I can be with them at play.”
“So don’t shed any tears for me Daddy, I’m truly happy here.”
“And I will see you once again, and held her Daddy near.”

He awoke from that dream determined that no more tears would be shed.
He joyfully gave all of Sandy’s toys to charity, even Sandy’s little bed.
He finally found happiness in knowing his darling child was pleased.
And he prayed for Sandy to find her way while he was on his knees.

it is a measure of people who don't understand such a horrific loss -- your friend is blessed to have found internal peace -- through a visit from his daughter's spirit -- a very sad story with an ending that seems to have given the father relief from his grief -- such an emotionally gripping story Bonnie - peace to you and your friend -- JMW

I can't in my wildest dreams imagine the pain that losing a child can be like, I had only one natural dauther (though two step daughters I love as my own) but I can't even contemplate a world without her in it...
