Forget We Ever Met!

There was a miserable little fellow who hated to smile.

When he went to joyous parties, he only stayed awhile.

He hated being around happy people, it seemed to be his curse.

No matter how many times he tried, he always felt worse.

Then one day when he was feeling the most miserable of all.

He remembered a child smiling and made him feel quite small.

Why can’t I be that joyous instead of always being down?

If only once I’d feel pleasure with or without people around.

So many years went by that he carried misery in his soul.

He never once felt happiness and he never once felt whole.

But then an angel came to him dressed in gruesome black.

And said, “Why are you doing this, what is it you lack?”

You have so many riches, good health and a festive life.

But you only choose to see misery filled with years of strife.

You make me wear black because of your dark moods.

I want to be like the other angels and wear pretty blues.

But as long as you carry this darkness, my plight is so clear.

For I am your guardian angel and I must stay right here.

Can’t you find some happiness in your darkened soul?

Something that was wonderful to make you finally whole?

The miserable little fellow thought about this for awhile.

He ponder years of misery but then gave a slight smile.

“Yes, I can think of one that warms my heart a little bit.”

“It’s the day a child smiled and in my heart a light was lit.”

“If I could be that child I would be the happiest I could be.”

Then the little angel told him, “you are that child don’t you see.”

It was you that smiled as a child when you only felt pure joy.

But you forgot that child’s happiness you forgot that little boy.

You bogged yourself down with all life’s troubles and misery.

You forgot the happiness and joy that once long ago used to be.

Money was your joy and goal & it was what damaged your soul.

Money has been your downfall and your greed took its toll.

I will give you back your joyful memories, if you don’t forget.

How precious memories truly are and forget we have ever met.
