Worlds Apart

I read your letter
knowing
your words
were well thought.

I read between the lines
and felt
the disappointment,
the anguish,
the anger.

Through my eyes
washed with tears
I knew
I had jeopardized
something special.
(You!)

If only
we were not
separated by miles
of empty time,
I would spend
treasured moments
showing you
just how much
you
mean to me.

I’m sorry I let you down.

I guess that is the price
we pay
for being “worlds apart”.
