Ja'i eu une merde saine...

by Kalikiano Kalei — Read all 118 poems by Kalikiano Kalei

There is beauty in everything that is natural and untouched by human hands, just as there is death implicit in every human reproductive act. It's all a matter of perspective.

J'ai eu une merde saine...

Sometimes life is like that. A simple healthy shit,

A cup of black coffee, a good loaf of French bread,

Wine and cheese under a cool oak tree in the park.

Sometimes life is right there. Unexpected,

Uncomplicated and flowing along like a strong river current

Under the hot sun of a lazy afternoon.

Sometimes it’s good to simply feel and

Switch off the thinking, reach out for the big breast of life

That is offered to suckle with innocent joy.

Sometimes it is better to mate and roll and writhe

On God’s green grass with abandon, before the heat of coupling

Spreads its brush fire too wildly among the weeds of life.

Sometimes it’s all the time. Sometimes it’s not.

Sometimes the importance of all the heaped up daily merde

We experience isn’t worth a good, satisfying fart!

Sometimes there’s just no time left in the world

To quickly question all the good feelings that spring briefly

Out of the waters of our lives, like ghostly silver trout at dusk.

Sometimes that brief flash of insight that presents

Without a price and negotiates tranquility is better caught

And held and marveled at without question or second guess.

Sometimes it is ours to delight, sometimes not, but always

Ours to bemoan and deny. And sometimes it is ours to know

How and when the two diverge, before the magic moment flees.

Sometimes it really is, sometimes…like a healthy shit,

A satisfying fuck, an amusing thought. Sometimes life is like that.

Sometimes life with you, sometimes…
