DeGaussing Sevrin

by Kalikiano Kalei — Read all 118 poems by Kalikiano Kalei

A very unserious, light-hearted bit of fluff, prompted by an utterance of the esteemed Bad Pote Bard of Suckatomato (CA), made while retrieving his fan mail from the Post Awfuls waste bin.

DEGAUSSING SEVRIN

A pote must manifest magnetism

That draws in all who read

His timeless words of angst & joy,

Including his unwritten screed.

Thus it helps to mildly electrify

All his readers now and then

With the marvels of his eloquence

And adroitness of his pen!

Alas! Poor Sevrin’s words of prose

Hit the ‘third rail’ of the now-and-then,

So his bloody corpus had to be dragged

Off the creative tracks to begin again!

Yet, still and all, and caloo-callay,

Sev remains unsurpassingly true

to his muse and her formulaic charms,

tho’ she seems vanished in the blue!

But stay, old friend, I have a plan

To recharge your Leyden currents,

Just stick your finger in an AC socket

And experience a Great Convergence!

------------------------

Postscript: Sev is recovering nicely (from his electrifying experience at the State Institution for the Poetically Inane), he’s back to regale us once again, for his creative currents are now alternating nicely, and he’s once more the same old friend!

I remember when I was young at a local college in early 1980s, there was a poetry coffee house. This guy named Ed read a poem about a dog that was run over by a train. He was trying to get the audience to feel sad for the dog. I felt the poem was phony and I started laughing. I learned afterwards that he made up the whole thing.

Sevrin the pote reminds me of that guy. :)
