Feed the Beast!

by Kalikiano Kalei — Read all 118 poems by Kalikiano Kalei

Looking more carefully at this, after having retrieved it from an old manuscript written a number of years ago, I tried to find some arguably compelling reason to regard it as a good write. Despite all my careful focusing on it through rose colored glasses and optimising filters, I must confess it is still rather puerile. Don't let that stop you, however. Read on and let's together try to make the breast of a bad deal, eh!

Poem Artwork

FEED THE BEAST!

Pity the nun, for she is the bride of Christ.

A purer, more sterilised love affair does not exist,

For there can be no ardent consummation of desire

When the husband/lover is wrought from air & myth.

Envy the hot spirited woman of flesh and blood,

for hers is the choice between artful self deception

and abject sensual abandon to the ancient curse of

insatiable pleasures of thirsty, demanding senses.

Within each woman lies the bigeminal soul

Of purest saintly spiritual bride and lustful fiery hellion.

Each component of this duality daily needs to feed:

The saint on airy vapors, the carnal beast upon raw meat.

My advice to you, having known many nuns

And an equal number of hormonally optimised females

In the course of my journey down the Tao’s water way,

Is to open the cage, unbar the door, starve the nun,

BUT FEED THE BEAST!…
