Baggy pants

by Kalikiano Kalei — Read all 118 poems by Kalikiano Kalei

History has recorded that almost all the major radical thinkers stretching back almost a thousand years were cat lovers. Something to think about as the resident Chat lolls just out of reach, casting yellow half-moon eye slits in this direction. What do THEY know that they have been keeping from us?

Poem Artwork

BAGGY PANTS

Cats creep across the garden

like shrunken tigers

garbed in cast-off

woolly trousers

10 times too large and late

the property of some

decrepit rural circus clown who,

having nearly drowned

in the waves of cosmic laughter

resulting from his pratfalls and antics,

has resolved

never again

to swim

too far

from shore.

enjoyed the read, believe only cat enthusiasts will really get the fullness of the thought

Husband and I are allowed to serve and share the home of a number of cats

never stop writing!

I've got twp cats (actually, they have me).
More support for your great thinker/cat lover claim.
Never made the connection before, but you easily convinced me.

Ah! The great enigma of cats in nuns' habits and non-swimmer Moggies! It's a rich broth of mystery right out of the cat box! K2

That's a strange juxtaposition. I understand cats in the backyard garden… I have my neighbors' all the time. But I have never seen a cat wear clothes except perhaps in some silly Broadway Play. So I'm not sure what the column with his unwillingness to leave the house (swim too far from the shore) has to do with these cats. But that I'm not in your backyard seeing cats wearing baggy pants.
