THE DATE WE DO NOT WANT

We have a date to keep with death,
A date to come we do not want;
But we shall fight till our last breath,
Fight cruel invaders until we can't.
We won't give away our own dear land,
we'll stay and fight till our last breath!
--for all ukrainians well understand,
we have a date to keep with death.
As for you, with your guilt so far,
wait a year, mark your calendar...

It is poems like this that are the rallying cry… The songs… That allow soldiers to face horrendous odds and somehow, prevail. Thankfully, most of the children have escaped to countries in NATO where the Bear would face reverse odds. If their fathers die, their mothers will help them become men of the courage of their fathers if and when that time ever comes again.
