The massive Pacific pummels
the mile-out barrier reef
like ancient Polynesian drums
beating an alpha rhythm
on Bora Bora
coconut palms weep
the tepid sea bespeckled
as clouds of perles noir
mask the Southern Cross
jagged bolts of platinum
set alight the vulcan sky
quixotic as the South Seas
clusters of perles creme return
mirrored in the transparent lagoon
while Otuu struts the water's edge
sun ripened Maohi's
wrapped loosely in pareus
their beauty crowned with Tiare Tahiti
sway to the beat of ancestral drums
at the foot of Otemanu
on Bora Bora
exceptional imagery that brings to life this Pacific setting ....

Rich in movement, texture and rhythm, this poem is one of the most artistically expressed that I've read since joining AD. It is filled with spirit and radiates outward warming and luring this reader in. I've read and re-read. Your opening stanza is terrific. Beautiful!

Leslie, during the war of my youth I "visited" many Pacific Isles, but always managed to miss the one I wanted to see. Thank you for this lovely poem which takes at last me to the Bora Bora of my early imaginings. Thank you... -gene.
Perhaps "..Quiet Storm" will help rekindle old flames buried and long forgotten or express the love so deeply locked inside of your soul longing to be released.
