Jane was born with hypoparathyroidism in the days when nothing could be done to prevent devastating, lifelong problems. But thanks to her family and her indominatable spirit, Jane not only lived far longer than doctors predicted, she worked as a bookkeeper for years, and eventually married. Hundreds of people attended her funeral. An astounding number drove for
miles to be at graveside. Talk about faith. Talk about perseverance. Talk about guts. If I could be half the person Jane turned out to be, I would be happy.
Pretty in Pink Doesn’t Say It
[In Memoriam for Jane McGuire Blake]
Beneath the plane, clouds have gathered as if to say goodbye. When I look down, they have turned to rushing clots of ice. Edges crack. Many look broken. But I am seeing things, perhaps. Better to go mad than remember how you looked in the dress your mother chose because you loved pink. Love! she corrected. Oh, to have her faith. Yours. A life spent in pain because fate turned hateful never deterred your Belief. Me, I can’t believe this plane can fly. We will crash through that ice, and I will go straight down. You up there, Jane? Somehow even heretics believe you are. Nothing is broken, right? Nothing hurts? Spunky as ever, you have to be giving St. Pete a time. He’ll be better for it, I am sure.
The ice has started breaking up. Clear patches show we may land after all. So. Planes do fly. Angels can? Probably helps if they wear pink.

Phylliss, this beautiful work brought tears to my eyes. Such an excellent to a Lady I have no doubt was highly beloved by many.
I sometimes feel very ashamed with what I have accomplshed in life
when I see examples of the courage to be peroductive with so many physical problems to overcome. I know now her pain is over and people like myself who fail others at ever turn each must carry a little of the cross that was placed on her at birth. Hugs a wonderful poem. Bill

"Pretty in Pink Doesn't Say It", is a loving tribute to a friend. Again, Phyllis, what I admire about your writing, is that your strokes emulate with candor, the words you feel in your heart. They clearly express your pain, and simultaneously, the admiration and respect felt for one who lived and fought despite the odds. No reading between the lines; the strength it took to penn these thoughts is clearly evident. I send you my love -- stay strong.
This says so much, i am sure she will always fly in the hearts and minds of those that loved her.......and continue to do so..
