coping with a parents abandonment from childhood to adult years
Didn't I say I loved you enough
or did I save it for when times got tough?
Didn't I say how much you meant
or how grateful I was for the times that we spent?
Didn't I say that you had my absolute trust
or couldn't you hear me as I choked on your dust?
Didn't you hear me as I screamed Daddy come back
You forgot me and Mommy, we need time to pack!
I thank God everyday for the Mother I have
at only 5 feet she stands taller than any mountain on Earth.
She opened my eyes to what a parent should be
instilling confidence and pride and morales in me.
My Mother became the hero you should have been
she's my best friend now and you're gone with the wind.
I'm all grown up now with a child of my own
she is my princess, my reason for living and
I swear to God I'll never leave her alone
That little girl is my heart and I'm such a proud Dad
I'll be by her side through the good and the bad
I can't go a day without looking in her eyes,
seeing her smile or wiping her tears when she cries
I wish you stuck around to see me and my daughter grow
by the way her name is...You don't deserve to know
I hope you're ok and life wasn't too rough, but I can't help but wonder
Didn't I say I loved you enough?
What a profound poem, that shows the importance of both mother and father in a child's life. I hope you have realized his leaving had nothing to do with you...maybe his own inadequacy. At any rate, this didn't stop you from your deep love for your daughter! Blessings to you...and your mother!

Some people are just so caught up in themselves, that no amt of saying "I love you" could ever penetrate their thick, imagined importance.
