"Ghost in the Shadows"

I am a ghost in the shadows of her heart
a mere absence in those threads of time
while she mourns deep for someone else
who penetrated a window of her dreams
who then marked the territory of her love
with glitter and sparks in the mist of want
as I slept alone thousands of miles away
yearning and unaware that she grew cold

I am an apparition in the clouds of doubt
that she holds when my warm words fly
without even feeling the ache in my soul
in the absence of her incomparable love
for all things continue in the routine of life
and day after day passes on by unnoticed
and night after night silhouettes the dawn
and I awaken without being there with her

I am but a memory that was lost in a wink
one determined impossible to reach reality
for fear had overtaken her and she forgot
in belief that dreams would become hazy
in the error of thought that love would fade
in the inability to hang on without my touch
losing hope that this heart would linger on
in the absence of a physical consummation

I am a shadow in the dark pages of her mind
I slipped through the cracks of a broken heart
shuffled between the bitter tears shed in vain
wedged in a place of such unfulfilled romance
as one that failed to materialize in the horizon
where a sun sets holy in my part of the world
and rises in hers with a predicted inevitability
leaving the two of us alone in the penumbra

Breathtakingly beautiful! Such an eloquent description of the hurt that a one-sided love affair can cause.

Amor what a poem this is. The emotions so deep and rich and bittersweet. I can't imagine your ever being only a ghost in the shadows of any woman's heart. I've never read anything more real, more touching from you. The art is captivating as well.
