As I look back on my life

It was filled with pain and strife

Never knew which way to go

Didn't even really care

Then one day I met a man

who was lost such as I

He took me and my little three

And together we made one

Through the years life had its downs

Mostly nothing mattered, it always came around

There were many times when illness shadowed over us

Yet our love for each other erased all the fuss

The kids grew up and left to find their own way

While we stood holding hands, the price was too much to pay

Each day we thanked Him that we were still in love

And strong enough to get this far, with still some time to go

Our kids had little ones to make our hearts fill up

Seems that's the progression that most couples run

Thank you God, is what  we said each nite, he and I together

LIfe has been good, and we will always treasure

This was no accident, your plan to bring us all together

OUr hearts were full, the past hurts gone, and now today is here

How good you are to give us this blessed life to treasure

Then in the morning, he was gone...my love was gone forever

Who can prepare for such a shock...the pain is still within her

One by one, the days arrive, and no longer do I cry all night

I take the days one at a time, determined to fight it right

Sometimes I think I've lived too long, alone and useless now

Then I remember what he said.... I'll always love only you!
