As dawn brought first light
Ears perked up
Tails wagged
Dewdrops sparkled
Little fists rubbed eyes open
Jaybirds appeared from nowhere
Copper and green leaves rustled

Weathered hands
Squeezed generous teats
While gentler hands
Prepared water to heat
Coffee to bubble

Fresh cut bread
Laid in waiting
As churned butter
Bided its time

Once bucket-filled
Feline friends lapped
Playful squirts of milk
As family waited

Back then
Mornings ushered in
Day's first remembered moments
Many knew as love's awakening

As a child, just the way you wrote it, times on the farm at my grandparents or other relatives were magical. But then, we didn't have to put in all the hard work that they did to enjoy country living. It's easy to forget how hard it was just to make a living.

Oh my goodness this was beautiful! You took me back to a place in time of stored memories, to Grandmother's home. She had her arms opened wide and hugged me till I couldn't breathe. I especially like your expression "love's awakening", when I woke at this home of love, I smelled bacon cooking and singing in the kitchen to an old church song. They are now gone but "Remembered Moments" are with me forever!
