Pensive Is…
by Odin Roark

Pensive is
Where disappointment ponders
While sadness decides

Pensive is
When layered clouds
Crisscross a setting sun
And conch shells
Pull echoes in for the night

Pensive is
A desperate green and red
Neon misfiring
While dollar-a-night patrons
Bury faces in pillows

Pensive is
The shroud of loneliness
Making void the breath
Of happiness

Pensive was
That last sigh
Before despair smothered
Optimism’s trust
Made dark the day
For those without hope

So waits those of nominal experience

At first this hung in the air of my mind....'Pensive' itself kind of see-through. Then the word "Pensive" grew into the antithesis of 'Hope.' And in the form of 'Hope's' antithesis, it wrapped itself around your introductory sentence: "Nothing is as it starts," which then became an arrow pointing to "Hope." Neat. ~~ Diana

That said, you have clarified pensive to the point where I can cope with it.

Had to look up "pensive " since I had forgotten what it meant. Now it makes more sense. This just flows, very deep. As always my only profound statement I give when I cannot articulate my thoughts properly is, "Love It ".
